The idea behind KIA-CHARLOTTA came about when founder Kia switched to a vegan lifestyle in 2014. At that time, it was difficult to find vegan and high-quality make-up products at affordable prices. Nowadays, most people are familiar with the term "vegan" when it comes to food. But vegan nail polish? In conventional nail polishes, however, animal ingredients such as carmine and guanine are often found. Carmine is made from crushed scale insects and is responsible for the red colour in nail polishes as well as lipsticks. Guanine is extracted from fish scales and is responsible for the shimmer in nail polishes with metallic tones. So Kia decided to create KIA-CHARLOTTA and develop vegan and toxin-free make-up products for an ever-growing number of conscious consumers.

Vegan „15 free“ nail polish

All KIA-CHARLOTTA nail polishes are vegan, cruelty-free and 15 Free. This means that the following 15 of the most commonly used harmful ingredients will not be used in KIA-CHARLTOTTA nail polishes:

Phthalates (incl. dibutyl phthalate (DBP), diethylhexyl phthalate (DEHP)), toluene (also: methyl benzene), xylene, camphor, formaldehyde, formaldehyde resin, ethyl tosylamide, styrene/acrylates copolymer, triphenyl phosphate, rosin, organohalogen compounds (AOX), parabens, silicone, fragrances, animal ingredients.

In addition, the nail polish colours do not contain Acrylates Copolymer or other liquid or solid microplastics*, Benzophenone-1, Benzophenone-3 or gluten.

100% natural lipsticks with veggie pigments

The idea behind the KIA-CHARLOTTA lipstick was not only to create a unique and great formula, but to realise beautiful colours that are both opaque and moisturising. A lipstick that feels light and good. To make the lipstick all-round sustainable, the focus was equally on the applicators of the lipsticks and so the most sustainable option was found: the applicators are made of 100% PCR plastic (post-consumer recycled) and are 100% recyclable again after use. In this way, KIA-CHALROTTA lipsticks close the recycling loop and ensure that no new plastic waste is created. In addition, the lipsticks are produced climate neutrally in Germany.
